A local solo exhibition of my work has just started here in Suffolk, England, at Sudbury’s “The Secret Garden” restaurant and will be on until the end of January 2012.
The show has 16 Open Edition prints, all available to purchase, covering a wide range of subjects, including the award-winning black & white Pink Tulip Study IV floral piece, a print of Portrait of an Elephant II from the Behind The Eyes series and many more images.
Directions to “The Secret Garden”, plus details of their daily and evening menus, are on their website at: http://www.tsg.uk.net/index.htm Their opening hours are: Monday to Saturday 9am-5pm, plus 7pm-9.30pm on Friday and Saturday.
They do great coffee and French cuisine. Well worth a visit if you’re in the Sudbury area!

Taken yesterday on the Suffolk coast, here in eastern England, in strong winds and driving rain. Only 12 degrees C. October in July! Not the best conditions and especially tricky trying to click the stopwatch and the cable release simultaneously and also hold a blowing-around, turning-inside-out umbrella. I managed to get soaked and my leggings muddy, but at least the gear stayed pretty dry. I can always put the waterproofed clothing in the washing machine. Can’t do that with a Nikon..!

As part of the British Institute of Professional Photography’s training events series for 2011, I’ll be holding a fine-art photography workshop in the historic town of Long Melford, in Suffolk, eastern England, on Wednesday 13th July 2011, from 2pm.
During the programme, I’ll be discussing the elements of fine-art photography and the creative methods that can be employed. By using a selection of my images, we’ll look at the behind-the-scenes process involved, including location choices, image composition, photographic capture, plus the challenges of marketing and selling the finished work.
The workshop also includes the opportunity for the participants to practice composition and technique.
Both BIPP members and non-members are welcome and for further information, please visit the events website at Fine Art Workshop. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email me or the BIPP.
Hope to see you soon,
Paul

Last week we caught a fast train and headed into a hot and steamy London to see the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2011, which the Pink Tulip Study IV print has been selected for, and it was great to see the huge range of artworks. And also huge as in size; some paintings and photographic prints literally towered over us, filling the space from the floor to the ceiling. Imagine the size of the printer needed for such large photo prints, or the space a painter would have to find to work on giant canvases like these…
The exhibition is currently on and continues until 15th August. For those of us in the UK, BBC2 is broadcasting The Culture Show this coming Thursday (16th June), which is covering the event in a one-hour special. Hope you get the chance to visit the show; the photographic prints are displayed in the first exhibition room you come to. Enjoy!
