Earth Hour 2011, 8.30pm, 26th March – tonight!

March 26, 2011

Just to let you know that Earth Hour 2011 is at 8.30pm today local time, Saturday 26th March.

The idea behind the global project, organised by the World Wildlife Fund, is to increase awareness of the growing problem of climate change and also for us to make a direct contribution to the reduction of CO2 emissions by switching-off lights (and other appliances too if you wish) for one hour from 8.30pm, local time.

Since the first Earth Hour in 2007, hundreds of millions of people across the planet have participated in 128 countries, as have landmark locations such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and the Colosseum in Rome.

For further information of tonight’s event, please see the Earth Hour website at: http://www.earthhour.org

Suffolk Magazine Feature, April 2011 edition

March 24, 2011

The April 2011 edition of the East Anglian Daily Times’ “Suffolk Magazine” was published today, here in the east of England, and on page 170 features a two-page colour spread of my images, the current and up-and-coming exhibitions and other news – the first of a new Suffolk Arts section in the monthly publication.

The Sea Pictures Gallery in Clare, currently hosting the “Totally Photographic” exhibition, is also featured on page 172 in the new “Art Beat” section.

The magazine covers many other county features and is available from all good newsagents in Suffolk.

Very many thanks to Arts Editor Andrew Clarke, the EADT and Suffolk Magazine for the superb article.

Interview in BIPP “The Photographer” Magazine

March 5, 2011

The British Institute of Professional Photography has just published an interview I recently had with Jonathan Briggs, the editor of the BIPP’s “The Photographer” magazine, on the challenges of fine art photography and how modern technology can be used to help the process of creating the images.

The 8-page article is illustrated with a range my photographs, including some from recent trips to the UK’s Lake District and western Scotland and also floral and animal images.

The interview can be read by clicking on the JPEG image below, which will open a new browser window.  Please then click on the open image to enlarge it to full size.

Many thanks to Jonathan Briggs and the BIPP for the great article.

March 5, 2011

A quick few shots of my prints at the “Totally Photographic” group exhibition at the Sea Pictures Gallery in Clare, Suffolk, UK.

Today’s launch went well, with most of the photographers present and plenty of interest in all the artists’ work from the gallery’s visitors.

The show introduces work by Rado Klose, Tony Othen and Emily Harris.  Regular gallery photographers also feature, including Rebecca Nason and Trevor Allen.

The exhibition is being held between 3rd March and 11th April 2011.
