I’m very pleased to announce some terrific news. The results of the highly competitive European Fine Art Photograph of the Year Award 2010 have been released and I have won Third Place!
The competition is run by the Federation of European Photographers (FEP) across 20 countries and received nearly 300 images from members of 23 professional associations. The photographs were shortlisted to 15 finalists a couple of weeks ago.
My win is for the “Sentinel” photograph, a zig-zag sea defence groyne, taken in North Norfolk here in the UK.
I would very much like to thank the FEP and the judges for awarding my photograph this prestigious prize.

The British workshop and photographic training company, Aspect2i, are featuring an article on how the award-winning “Behind The Eyes” animal portrait series was captured. The article describes the series’ concept, the challenges and equipment used, plus a couple of unexpected twists from the subjects themselves.
The article can be read on the Aspect2i website at: http://www.aspect2i.co.uk/Behind-The-Eyes-articleID6.html
It is also featured in Aspect2i’s newsletter, which is available on their website at: http://www.aspect2i.co.uk/index.php

The East Anglian Daily Times, here in the UK, have run a three-page profile in their weekend supplement on my work, background and recent awards.
We talked about how I gained an interest in photography all those years ago, ideas behind the photographs, some of the challenges encountered and other topics. The article featured many images, including those from the Behind The Eyes series and seascapes.
Very many thanks to Arts Editor Andrew Clarke and the EADT for putting together a great article!

I’ve just received news that I’m one of the lucky 15 who have made it through to the final round in the Federation of European Professional Photographers (FEP) Fine Art Competition 2010 – for the image “Sentinel”.
Just under 300 images were submitted and the final results will be announced around 6th February.

Here’s a link to my 20-image panel which I submitted during the summer (2010) to the British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP) for my Associateship qualification. It has a number of themes all held together with a similar style and two weeks ago was awarded the BIPP Peter Grugeon Award for best Associateship panel.
